While anyone is able to break up with someone, How to deal with a breakup maturely and as an adult is not always an easy task. This sometimes means setting aside your feelings, and considering the feelings of someone else before your own. While this may seem like an easy task in practice, it is much harder than it sounds. However, there are things you can do, that will help you learn how to deal with the breakup maturely both for your own sanity and for your own self-esteem. Stop and think at the time it takes you to have a childish argument with your ex. This is wasted time that can be spent at the spa, playing basketball or even hanging out with your friends. This means instead of always looking to pick a fight with your ex, you sometimes just walk away. This may be easier with some exes than others. If your ex is someone who tries to continuously pick a fight, than it is a much a harder task than if your ex is someone who is normally quiet and passive. This can mean avoiding making comments that you know could initiate a fight. While breaking up maturely may seem, for some people, to take all of the fun out of breaking up, it really does not, because you are left with more time to do things that you actually enjoy.Much better than simply torturing your ex. For example, if you have children, you may find it amusing to tell your ex that they cannot see the children unless they give you something you want. However, this is a very inappropriate behavior,and a bad example for your children. Learning how to deal with a breakup of the mature adult is not a skill that everyone is born with, and it is not even a skill that everyone can master within just a few days. There are some people who catch on to the concepts quite quickly, and others who must practice for a long time before their skilled in acting mature when breaking up. Where in the spectrum you fall will often depends on your own personal circumstances, your personality, the personality of your ex, and the exact reasons why you are breaking up. The circumstances matter, too. If there was no violence or cheating that occurred in the relationship it"s easier to act like adults. If however you are jealous because you were cheated on, then often acting mature is much harder to do. Whatever happend, you are ultimately responsible for your own behavior and your own actions. This means you must avoid all temptation to sink to the same level as your ex even if they act immature. You should still remain the calm, cool, and collected adult of the relationship. This will be worthwhile, as you are the one in control. Relatioships sometimes end, and breaking up is a part of life. It involves simply moving along to do something that will make you happy. Torturing your ex and acting immature is ultimately not going to make you happy. Instead, look to find things will make you happy, regardless of your relationships outcomes.
